I am a passionate runner and cyclist. In early July 2005, I suffered a back injury that an MRI showed three herniated discs in the thoracic and lumbar area w/ disc material extending 7-8 mm into the spinal canal as well as crowding of the space for the traversing L3 nerve root. Needless to say the pain was excruciating. For the first three months I could barely move. I was under the care of a chiropractor who got me to a manageable pain level but everyday was an agony to get through. I was forcing myself to 'run'. It was a very painful ordeal. This was now eight months since the injury. I was told to consider surgery and everything I had read on the Internet about disc injuries was very discouraging. There really was no "cure" and running probably wouldn't be an option. And at that point I was

not able to cycle at all. I went for a second opinion with another chiropractor and the first thing he did was recommend that I go for neuro muscular massage. I remembered hearing about how wonderful Paul Franklin was from different people I had run with in the past. The first thing I did was call him and explain what my problem was. I told him that I was in pain with severe spasms in my back and neck for the last eight months. I didn't know where else to turn. He was very patient and explained to me about a method he does called Structural Integrative Therapy. Within two visits the spasms in my back and neck were gone. A month into treatment I was back on my bike again. And as an added bonus, I think he has made be a better runner then I was before I was injured. I am positive I would not have suffered all that pain for all those months if I had discovered Paul Franklin sooner. So anyone out there who thinks it is hopeless, like I use to before Paul, it isn't. There can be an end to the pain. Running is my life. Paul Franklin gave me my life back. |
